Matsuri

Matsuri is the name given to the traditional Japanese festival. Among the most well-known festivals are Setsubun, Hinamatsuri, Tanabata, Obon, Shichi-Go-San, Sapporo Snow Festival, Gion Matsuri, Nebuta Matsuri, Aomori Nebuta Matsuri, and Kanda Matsuri. Each of these festivals has its own traditions and celebrations, but all are marked by dances, parades, elaborate decorations, and plenty of typical food. Gion Matsuri, for example, is one of the most famous and takes place in Kyoto. It was started in the 9th century to protect the city from epidemics. On the other hand, the Sapporo Snow Festival, held in the city of Sapporo, is known for its impressive ice and snow sculptures.
